March 2024. Too many organizations, particularly in large enterprises, want a checklist of activities that signify an agile organization. Agile isn't like that. It isn't prescriptive, with step by step instructions. It is facilitative, a practice to be embodied and adapted.
A competent cook can follow a recipe and deliver a consistently good meal. But that is not what agile does. Cooks follow recipes; chefs create recipes.
That is what agile does. A great agilist is like a great chef, stepping into a fully equipped kitchen, understanding the customer, and orchestrating the kitchen staff to create and deliver something that delights.
