AI is not coming for our tech jobs.
At my place of work, and various partner companies with which we interact, what I'm seeing instead is:
- Productivity increases. AI is amplifying the ability of the people we already have to do their work.
- Lowering the barrier to entry. AI is lowering the cost of entering new markets or feature areas, enabling business expansion that wasn't practical before.
- Accelerating research. With the enshitification of Google and other popular search engines, we have been in desperate need of a more effective and less clumsy search tool for a while. AI Search is really filling that gap.
